Specialty Restaurant, London

~ Marylebone, London ~

In the heart of Marylebone, this small gem offers guests a wonderful surprise with its petite kitchen and ambitious menu. Entering through pale green drapes and onto light timber floors the restaurant unfolds. Banquettes flank either side of the room, this symmetry is further enhanced by a rhythm of cane paneling a modern interpretation of the Indian Mughal arches. Pilasters have been stencilled in traditional Indian motifs reminiscent of plants - a symbol of the whole of creation, a statement that the space has life - with green symbolising a new beginning, harvest, and happiness. A grid of individual twinkling pin spot lights cover the ceil- ing, evoke the agate stone tipped brushes, used centuries ago for the burnishing of richly decorated paintings. A rose stenciled ribbon leads guests to the downstairs dining room. This room is enveloped in terracotta pink drapery. A colour that holds historical provenance representing welcoming and hospitality.
