Private Chalet

- Gstaad, Switzerland -

The four seasons set the pace of life for the people of Gstaad, shaping much of the cultural traditions and ebbs of daily life.

The renowned Swiss artist, Ferdinand Holder, painted the majestic mountains as a way to record the passing of time and season. His large, gestural paintings, present nature in a magnified, yet simplified form, liberated from detail, yet still capturing the essence of the Swiss landscape.

Like Holder, we worked to celebrate the cyclical movement of time by designing each of the chalet’s four floors according to one of the four seasons. Design elements were selected to be consistent with the look and feel of each distinct season.
